Gm folding mirror spur gear.

The plastic spur gear cracks at the slightest impact or just wears out over time causing an inoperable folding mirror. I have to hit the button again for it to fold. The company that also repairs the faulty door locks now apparently makes new folding mirror gears made from brass instead of plastic and new motors for them as well. New is on the left old is on the right passengers side.

Came sealed in its brand new gm ac delco box and was packed in the original packing from the factory. I assumed the folding gears were bad in them. New motor is faster than the old. Thinking maybe the gears in my need to be replaced.

As many have discovered the folding mirror assembly on these trucks suffers from a thin weak. But i wasn t sure if thr nnbs mirrors are designed inside the same way as the nbs mirrors. Also note we now include the hi torque replacement motors with this kit. This part was the perfect fit and replacement for my 2008 suburban ltz with power folding mirrors electric mirror adjustment reverse downward tilt option turn signal and the downward facing puddle light.

The gm motors also get weak and die quickly. I spoke to them today they also repair the units and offer cores if you dont want the hassle of installing the replacement brass gear yourself. Unfortunately gm will only sell you a complete folding mirror assembly which will cost you from 700 1 200 ea after labor and paint depending on the year make model. I also notice very sporadically i ll go to fold my mirrors in and one side or the other won t fold.
